The sport of pistol shooting is very popular at Wentworth. Students over the age of 12 can begin shooting, with training being held after school in the state-of-the-art, purpose built shooting range in the College gymnasium.
Students regularly take part in school competitions such as Auckland and National Secondary School Championships and have had considerable success in recent years. The Wentworth College Shooting Team won the prestigious McMillan Cup on two occasions, and recently placed third in the National Secondary Schools Competition. Interested students are welcome to come along for free initially, to see whether they would like to join the club, after which club joining fees would be payable. Pellets also need to be purchased.
Uniform: Safety glasses at all times. Ear plugs recommended.
Training: Thursday nights 6pm to 7.30pm in Wentworth Gymnasium
